Halifax Regional Police (HRP) will attempt to complete all check requests within 3 business days.

Results of the search of the National Repository of Criminal Records and locally held HRP Records
will be provided directly within your myBackCheck.com account. These results can be shared online.

If applicable, results of the pardoned sex-offender search will be sent to you via direct email from HRP.
Instructions will be provided should you wish to upload these results to your online account.

If you are unsure what type of check you require please confirm with the requesting organization.

Please note that a refund will not be provided once the check has been processed.
A standard Criminal Record Check is appropriate for most types of employment and volunteering if you will NOT be in a position of trust or authority over children or another vulnerable group.
This check includes:
  • a name-based search of the National Repository of Criminal Records
  • a search of locally held convictions and findings of guilt at HRP

OR
A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required ONLY when you will be in a direct position of trust or authority over children, the elderly, the disabled, or another vulnerable group. This position may be paid or volunteer.
This check includes:
  • a name-based search of the National Repository of Criminal Records
  • a search of locally held convictions and findings of guilt at HRP
  • a query of the pardoned sex-offender database

If you are a volunteer with an organization that possesses an agreement with
Halifax Regional Police you can complete this check for a reduced rate.
