Dave Dinesen founded BackCheck in 1997. Previously, he served as co-founder and Sr. Vice President of a large investigation and due diligence firm. Realizing that pre-employment background checks were the future, he founded BackCheck which is now the industry leader in Canada. With account executives from coast to coast, BackCheck serves thousands of Canada’s employers with industry-leading pre-employment screening services.
Dean holds an MBA from INSEAD and a PhD from Cass Business School at City University - London. He is a professor of business management at Kwantlen University College. He has extensive work experience in government at the federal, provincial and municipal levels including 2 years in the Prime Minister's office. He is a director on the Working Opportunity Fund, which is the largest venture capital firm in British Columbia. He has 10 years experience in corporate finance specializing in raising funds for high growth companies. Dean has served as an officer in the Canadian Army Reserve for 25 years, and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dean lives in suburb of Vancouver with his wife and two children.
Stephen is an original member of the BackCheck team, having developed the client service delivery protocols, workflow systems, and the technology that facilitates online reporting. Stephen is an active member of the business development team, and aims to support through technology our goal of ever increasing quality, speed and efficiency of service. Stephen has previously held the role of BackCheck General Manager and holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from UBC. Stephen lives in a suburb of Vancouver with his wife and children.
Mr. Kroen is responsible for the Canadian Account Executive Team. He is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) with 25+ years of Corporate HR experience including extensive international experience. Andy is a graduate of the University of Toronto and has chaired many HR Forums and Committees such as the International Technology Association of Canada. Mr. Kroen lives in Toronto with his wife and children.
Jeremy Hardern started his career in the banking and financial industries, focusing on planning tools and techniques, and project management methodologies in information technology. Since joining BackCheck, Jeremy has concentrated on re-engineering core applications, building solutions for increased workflow efficiencies, and assisting in the development and deployment of new business processes. Jeremy’s primary objectives are to ensure that continuing operational activities and anticipated business growth are supported by a robust, scalable and secure technology base. Jeremy oversees IT Services, software development and business analysis teams.
Jenny has been a member of the BackCheck team since June 2005, when she began as a Human Resources Interviewer and made her mark working on improving processes with more specialized clients. Jenny transitioned into a role where she handled quality assurance reviews, while still providing daily support to the operations teams. As quality assurance expanded, Jenny was promoted to Team Lead and soon to Department Head of Quality Assurance, where she was able to develop the QA team into an integral department within BackCheck. She currently oversees the daily functioning of the Surrey Operations Center. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Psychology from Kwantlen University College.
Amy Ell has been a part of the BackCheck team since June 2004, where she began as a Human Resource Interviewer. As the company developed, Amy became the first member of the Verifications team and later took on the positions of Team Lead and Department Head of Verifications. Amy has also played a role in developing standard evaluation procedures in her position as Department Head of Quality Assurance. In her current role as Assistant Vice President of Operations for the Montreal office, Amy provides leadership to operational departments and sets goals for service quality, efficiency, and client relationships. Amy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
Jen McLeod has been a part of the BackCheck team since January 2005, where she began as the first member of the Implementation Team. As the implementation processes and procedures continued to evolve, Jen was promoted Team Lead, and soon the Department Head of Implementation where she was able to build the department into a functional and integral department within BackCheck. Jen has played a vital role in developing new client care and customer service procedures. She currently oversees the Implementation, Pre-Sales, and Quality Assurance departments within BackCheck. Jen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Kwantlen University College and has received her CHRP designation.
