Why should we conduct pre-employment background checks?
Employers have a duty to investigate the backgrounds of prospective employees for the sake of shareholders, fellow employees, and customers. A thorough background check can save an organization an enormous amount of grief and expense down the road. BackCheck's services can prevent the need for additional HR staff, alleviate any hiring delays, accelerate the recruitment process, and dramatically improve the quality of information that is necessary to make well-informed hiring decisions. We offer complete third party neutrality and objectivity. These benefits will significantly reduce expenses associated with turnover and re-training, not to mention the damage that a 'bad hire' can inflict on the company. The relatively minor cost of a BackCheck is insignificant compared to the cost of correcting a bad hire!
Is pre-employment background screening legal in Canada?
What about Criminal Record Checks?
Yes! BackCheck fully complies with the Human Rights Code of Canada. We ensure complete compliance with Canadian privacy legislation, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and other relevant laws and legislation. All of BackCheck's services require the candidate’s consent and understanding of the process involved in our services. As an employer, you are obligated to protect your organization, its customers, and your employees. A thorough background check allows employers to do the most within the law to protect their businesses.
How can we measure results?
Key indicators that prove the measurable impact of BackCheck's pre-employment screening include a reduction in employee turnover, reduction in the cost of hiring and training, reduced instances of internal fraud and theft, improved overall employee performance, improved employee morale, and an increase in the number of informed hiring decisions. BackCheck internally tracks and reports the number of "hits" we uncover throughout the background screening process, such as criminal histories, negative reference information, poor credit history, education embellishments and fraudulent claims. We offer a comprehensive and easy-to-use online reporting system that is safe and secure. BackCheck will work with your managers to ensure optimal results throughout the duration of your pre-employment screening program.
How do we implement a BackCheck program across our company?
BackCheck suggests that managers, Human Resources, or security representatives assume responsibility for ensuring the BackCheck process is followed for every new hire. In general, our clients use internal communications to implement BackCheck, to distribute release forms, and provide operational instructions. During the hiring process, your hiring team is responsible for informing potential candidates of BackCheck’s procedures. To notify your existing team that BackCheck is your pre-employment screening provider, we suggest corporate Intranet, emails, faxed memos, interoffice mail, conference calls, and group meetings. We send our clients examples of corporate policy and memos that have been effective for other clients. This website also provides downloadable forms, frequently asked questions, statistics, and links to related sites for more information.
Does BackCheck's implementation policy include training for our hiring managers?
Our Implementation Team works with our clients to determine recruitment needs and how best to meet them. We contact each hiring location individually to provide the resources necessary to understand the BackCheck process. We believe that our clients must be fully knowledgeable and able to answer any questions for their BackCheck program to be a complete success. Whether services are ordered from a single head office, or multiple regional locations, our Implementation Department and Client Care Coordinators ensure that recruitment managers understand the process through conference calls, training materials, and/or email. Our team fully describes our reporting process and customizes where appropriate. We also train our clients' managers on receiving and interpreting online reports. We offer a comprehensive implementation process with ongoing support throughout your time with BackCheck.
How will we be invoiced?
BackCheck prefers electronic billing through email. Alternately, BackCheck will send you an invoice through fax or post. If you prefer, BackCheck accepts payment using Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
Is there a contract to sign?
No! BackCheck does not require you to commit to using our services for any set period. Further details can be determined during the implementation process, as we are flexible to the needs and requirements of individual organizations.
