An applicant to one of BackCheck’s clients stated that she had been employed from 1989 until 1991 at a previous employer, and stated that she left to spend more time at home. She provided a supervisor’s name and a contact phone number. Upon contacting payroll to verify employment, BackCheck was informed that she had never been employed by the company, either in a paid or voluntary position. The payroll administrator has been an employee for the past 25 years and was adamant that the applicant never worked there. When questioned on why the applicant would select that company, and provide contact information, the payroll administrator informed BackCheck that her husband was a former employee who was terminated years ago.
